인도네시아 발리의 가장 활기찬 지역으로 알려진 Seminyak에 새로운 형태의 복합외식공간이 문을 열었다.
이 지역에서 손꼽히는 요리사 중 한명인 Joel Sijin Lim의 계획 하에 ‘32do’, ‘Younghee’, ‘SJ2.0’ 이라는 이름의 카페, 레스토랑, 칵테일바 등으로 구성된 이 프로젝트는 그의 뿌리인 한국의 정서와 인도네시아의 환경적 맥락을 시각, 미각적 경험에 담는 것을 목표로 하였다. 인도네시아 소재의 건축집단인 Studio Terasu, FFFAAARRR과 한국의 디자인스튜디오 stof가 호흡을 맞췄으며, 전체 공간 중 카페 32do와 레스토랑 Younghee가 일부 먼저 공개되었다
A new multi-dining space has opened in Seminyak, one of the most vibrant areas in Bali, Indonesia. Under the planning of notable chef Joel Sijin Lim, this project comprises a café, restaurant, and cocktail bar named '32do,' 'Younghee,' and 'SJ2.0.' The aim is to capture the essence of his Korean roots and the Indonesian environment through visual and gustatory experiences. The project was a collaboration between Indonesian architectural firms Studio Terasu and FFFAAARRR, and Korean design studio stof. The café 32do and the restaurant Younghee are the first parts of this project to be unveiled.
미니멀하고 대칭적인 입면의 건물의 틈으로 진입하면 약 3000제곱미터의 좁고 긴 형태의 대지 위에 일렬로 놓여진 공간들을 방문자가 한공간씩 순서대로 경험할 수 있다.
Stof 는 “상대적인 새로움”이라는 개념을 기반으로, 인도네시아에서 경험하는 동아시아의 사계절 풍경(이국적 경험)과 이에 따라 끊임없이 변화하는 물의 형태를 통해 이 섬에서 너무나 친숙한 물질이 역설적으로 새롭게 느껴지는 경험을 공간에 담음으로써 브랜드가 제공하고자 하는 감각의 확장을 표현하고자 하였다.
각기 다른 서비스가 제공되는 공간들은 [여름의 장마], [가을 연못], [겨울의 얼음동굴] 등 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울 각 계절의 이미지를 투영하고 있어 사계절의 순환을 공간을 통해 체험하고, 전체의 공간을 하나의 여정으로 연결지어 인지할 수 있다.
Upon entering the minimal, symmetrical façade, visitors experience a sequence of spaces on a narrow, elongated plot of approximately 3,000 square meters. Based on the concept of “relative novelty,” stof seeks to express the sensory expansion that the brand offers by incorporating East Asia's four seasonal landscapes (an exotic experience in Indonesia) and the constantly changing forms of water, a familiar element on this island, making it feel new. Each space offering different services reflects the images of the four seasons - [summer monsoon], [autumn pond], [winter ice cave] - allowing visitors to experience the cycle of the seasons and perceive the entire journey as one cohesive experience.
좁은 통로를 지나 처음 마주하는 공간인 ‘32do’는 봄과 여름의 이미지를 담은 공간으로, 어디선가 흘러와 고요히 고여 있는 물을 시작으로 여름의 계곡을 향한 여정이 시작되는 곳이다. 천창을 통해 들어오는 채광과 다양한 레벨로 나뉜 높은 층고는 풍부한 입면을 노출하여 역동적이고 밝은 인상을 주고, 불규칙한 모양의 테라조와 이를 둘러싼 식물들이 여름의 활기찬 이미지를 전달한다. 각각의 레벨은 로스터리, chocolaterie 등 고유한 기능을 수행하고 있으며 이들은 구조적으로 연결되어 다양한 서비스의 제공을 하나의 풍경으로 풀어내고 있다.
The first space encountered after passing through a narrow corridor is ‘32do,’ embodying the images of spring and summer. It starts with still water that has quietly flowed in from somewhere, marking the beginning of a journey toward the summer valley. The natural light streaming through the skylight and the high ceilings expose a rich façade, creating a dynamic and bright impression. The irregularly shaped terrazzo and surrounding plants convey the vibrant image of summer. Each level serves a unique function, such as a roastery and chocolaterie, structurally connected to provide various services as one landscape.
공간 양 옆에 조성된 다양한 레벨의 메자닌은 이 공간만을 위해 특수제작된 원두 이송 레일시스템을 통해 시각적/ 물리적으로 관계성을 가진다. 로스터리에서 준비된 원두는 이 레일시스템을 통해 커피바로 이송되며, 이는 공간이 지속적으로 생동하고 있는 모습을 보여준다.
Mezzanines arranged at varying levels on both sides of the space are visually and physically connected by a custom-designed coffee bean rail system developed exclusively for this project. Beans roasted and prepared in the roastery travel along this system to the coffee bar, subtly revealing the continuous liveliness and active flow of the space.
물소리를 따라 내부로 진입하면 원형 보이드 영역 가운데 약 8미터의 높이에서 내려오는 물소리와 이를 시각적으로 형상화한 여러 개의 rain chain을 엮어 만든 “여름의 장맛비”를 마주하게 된다. 이 사이에 놓여진 원목소재의 다리를 지나가거나 계단을 오르면서 직접적으로 계절감을 느낄 수 있다.
Following the sound of water into the interior, visitors encounter “Summer’s Monsoon Rain” at the center of the circular void — rain chains woven together beneath a cascade of water falling from a height of about eight meters. Crossing the wooden bridge set between them or ascending the nearby stairs allows guests to physically experience the seasonal atmosphere as they move through the space.
이 프로젝트에 참여중인 Studio Terasu, FFFAAARRR, stof는 현재 이 곳의 마지막 공간인 SJ2.0의 오픈을 위한 마무리 단계에 있으며, 겨울의 이국적인 풍경을 통해 이 여정의 마지막을 장식할 계획이다.
Studio Terasu, FFFAAARRR, and stof are in the final stages of opening the last space, SJ2.0, which will complete the journey with an exotic winter landscape.
